Bringing the countryside to the capital, the London Wetland Centre provides a place for groups to enjoy fantastic views, nature and get up close to an array of wildlife.
It’s not often you find a flagship nature reserve on the edge of a capital city with 14 million inhabitants, but that is exactly what the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust has created on the outskirts of west London. Located in the borough of Richmond upon Thames, the site is formed of from four disused Victorian reservoirs tucked into a loop on the south bank of the River Thames.
The Centre, which opened in 2000, occupies more than 40 hectares of land. It has been carefully managed to produce a variety of wetland habitats, attracting an incredible array of wildlife, some of which cannot be seen anywhere else in London.
